I recently read the ebook, Posing Secrets: How to pose your model quickly and easily for professional results. After reading the sales copy, I was expecting to read a book that would be a lot like the photography guides I read back in high school. In fact, I even remember checking out a few library books on how to take pictures of people. These books mostly focused on what aperture settings and shutter speeds I should use on my camera to get certain results from my photography. Malcolm Boone’s, Posing Secrets, was a well-done departure from the typical guides I had read on model photography and posing tips.
In fact the only complaint I have for the book, is that Boone almost seems to be targeting the wrong market. After reading the guide, I believe that the group that would benefit greatly from this guide on how to pose models would be aspiring models. I actually think that those wanting to learn to become a model would benefit more from this guide than those learning to take pictures of models. At the very least, a photographer will get the most value from this guide by giving copies of it to customers to get them ready for their photo shoot. This way the model and the photographer could be on the same page.
Model posing, is a skill that most people probably assume comes naturally to a model. As long as you are attractive, you photos will turn out great. Right?
Wrong. After reading this guide, there is some important information that anyone who wants to know how to pose for a photo shoot should know. If you are an amateur model who is building your fashion posing portfolio, then you should read this book. Click on the image below to see the many reasons you will want to read this book.
Clicking on the link will take you to a page where the author of the book is explaining the benefits to photographers. However, you need to trust me. I have read this book, and it is just as beneficial for those who want to learn poses for photos to become a model.
The activities contained in the book would be a great way to come up with some interesting and unique poses for your first modeling portfolio. Along with the book, you also get the bonus, Glamour Notes, a guide to help you apply the modeling posing tips from Posing Secrets to glamour photography.
If you want to become a model, and don’t know where to start, this book will give you a lot of the basic knowledge you will need for working productively with a photographer.
